Publication Ethics

In order to improve the quality of publications, ensure the intellectual property rights of authors and to avoid unfair practices in publishing activities, members of the editorial board of the international scientific journal "Science and Life of Kazakhstan" are guided in their work by the principles of publication ethics. Publication ethics is compiled in accordance with the recommendations and standards of The Committee on Ethics of Scientific Publications (The Committee on Publication Ethics – COPE).

The publication ethics of the journal establishes the ethical rules of author ethics, ethical rules for reviewing and editing scientific publications used in the process of publishing scientific articles.

All authors submitting a scientific article, as well as editors and reviewers, including members of the editorial board, are obliged to observe and follow the publication ethics.

Interaction with authors is based on the principles of fairness, courtesy, objectivity, honesty and transparency.

rights and obligations OF AUTHORS

First of all, authors submitting an article to the journal must follow the requirements and standards for writing an article.

The author of the article should provide reliable results of the work done, as well as an objective judgment on the significance of the research. The data underlying the work must be presented accurately, without errors. The article should contain enough details and bibliographic references for possible reproduction. False or knowingly erroneous statements are perceived as unethical behavior and unacceptable.

The author must make sure that the article is completely original and, in case of using the works or statements of other authors, provide appropriate bibliographic references or citations.

The author submits to the editorial office an article that has not been previously published and has not been submitted to the editorial offices of other journals. Submitting an article to several journals at the same time is unethical and unacceptable.

Plagiarism, as well as auto-plagiarism in any form, is unethical and unacceptable behavior of the author.

The author must make sure that all participants who have made a significant contribution to the study are presented as co-authors, and those who did not participate in the study are not listed as co-authors, and also make sure that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the work and agreed to submit it for publication.

In case of finding an error, the author is obliged to immediately notify the editorial board of the journal. Notification of an error by a third party is not accepted by the editorial board.

Every author submitting an article to the editorial board of the journal should respect the participants in the publication process.

rights and obligations OF REVIEWERS

All scientific articles published in the journal "Science and Life of Kazakhstan" are subject to mandatory peer review on the principle of double-blind peer review.

The reviewer must promptly respond to the offer to write a review.

After accepting the article, the reviewer should prepare an objective and constructive review that can help the author improve his scientific work. After reviewing the scientific article, the reviewer should be specific in his criticism and confirm his general conclusions with strong evidence and relevant references.

The reviewer is obliged to maintain the confidentiality of information on the article received during his own review and not to allow publicity and use for his personal benefit.

Each reviewer is obliged to refrain from humiliating personal comments or baseless accusations.

The reviewer should pay attention to the substantial or partial similarity of the evaluated work with any other work, as well as the facts of the absence of references to the provisions, conclusions or arguments previously published in other works of this or other authors.

If the reviewer considers that he is not an expert on the issues considered in the article or that he will not be able to submit a review of the article in a timely manner, he must immediately inform the editorial board about the impossibility of reviewing the submitted article.

In their activities, the editorial team of the journal is responsible for the publication of authors scientific works, which requires compliance with the following ethical principles.

CONFLICT OF INTEREST

A conflict of interest is a conflict situation in which authors, reviewers or members of the editorial board have implicit interests that can affect their judgments regarding the published material. A conflict of interest exists when a professional judgment regarding a primary interest (eg, the validity of a study) may depend on a secondary interest (eg, financial gain). Understanding conflicts of interest is just as important as actual conflicts of interest.

Financial relationships (such as employment, consulting, stock ownership, royalties, patents, and paid peer reviews) are the most easily identifiable conflicts of interest and most likely to undermine the credibility of the journal, authors, and science itself. However, conflicts may arise for other reasons such as personal relationships or competition, academic competition, and intellectual persuasion.

Authors should avoid entering into agreements with research sponsors, both commercial and non-commercial, that prevent authors from accessing or interfering with all research data or their analysis and interpretation of data, and the preparation and publication of articles.

All participants in the review and publication process - not only authors, but also reviewers, editors and members of the editorial board of the journal - should consider their conflicts of interest when performing their roles in the process of reviewing and publishing articles and should disclose everything that can be considered as potential conflicts of interest.

Authors

Authors, when submitting articles of any type or format, are responsible for disclosing all financial and personal relationships that may or may be considered biased for their work.

Reviewers

Reviewers should disclose to editors any conflicts of interest that might change their opinion of articles, and should refuse to review specific articles if there is a potential for bias. Reviewers should not use knowledge of the work they are reviewing prior to publication to further their own interests.

Editors

Editors who make final decisions about articles should waive decisions if they have conflicts of interest or relationships that create potential conflicts related to the articles in question. Editorial staff should not use the information obtained as a result of working with articles for personal gain.

All interested parties should, to the extent possible, avoid conflicts of interest in any form at all stages of publication. In the event of any conflict of interest, the one who discovered this conflict must immediately notify the editors. The same applies to any other violations of the principles, standards and norms of publication and scientific ethics.

UNETHICAL BEHAVIOR

The following is considered behavior that does not meet ethical and scientific standards and is interpreted as fraud. All participants in the publishing process should avoid them in their work.

  • Fabrication/falsification of scientific results.
  • Plagiarism of data, ideas or fragments of articles (compilation).
  • Intentional selection or suppression of results in a publication when those results are relevant to the conclusions.
  • False use of statistical or other methods.
  • Intentional or negligent negligence in concealing the details of the methodology.
  • False reporting of authorship (assigned honorary authorship, invisible authorship (lack of indication of the participation of researchers).
  • False representation of the results of other researchers (fictitious citation).
  • Unacceptable repetition of publication (self-plagiarism and duplicate publications).
  • Improper handling of research objects.
  • Proposal of agency services: correspondence with the editors and revision of articles on behalf of the author.
  • Transfer of texts of articles by editors to other journals without the consent of the authors.
  • Transfer by editors or reviewers of authors' materials to third parties.
  • Violation of the standards of objectivity when reviewing and / or when deciding on publication.
  • All kinds of citation manipulation (conspiracy to artificially increase citations, artificially increase scientometric indices, excessive self-citation and friendly citation are interpreted as fraud).
  • Fan distribution of the same text of the article in several scientific journals.
  • All sorts of cases of falsification and fabrication of digital images.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR WITHDRAWING OR CORRECTING ARTICLES

Members of the editorial board are responsible for publishing articles with known signs of unethical behavior, plagiarism, self-plagiarism, excessive self-quoting by authors, conflicts of interest. If the principles of publication ethics were violated when writing the article, the scientific editor of the journal, based on the decision of the editorial board, must withdraw the publication. Articles can be withdrawn by the author (authors) or the editors of the journal.

An article is withdrawn in case of:

- if there is clear evidence that the data obtained is unreliable or obtained as a result of illegal actions, for example, falsification of data;

- detection of the fact of publication of the manuscript in another publication before its publication in the journal "Science and Life of Kazakhstan" - detection of plagiarism in the article, including the borrowing of drawings, graphs, tables, etc.;

- the presence of gross errors in the article that can negatively affect other scientists and their research, for example, miscalculation or experimental error;

- the article is plagiarized;

- the presence of information in the article that contradicts the principles, standards and norms of publication and/or scientific ethics.

Articles can be withdrawn by their author(s) or the editor of the journal. The editor-in-chief makes the final decision on the withdrawal of the article. Publications should be withdrawn immediately after the editor of the journal is convinced that the publication has serious violations and contains deliberately false information.

The withdrawal should be:

- be withdrawn as soon as possible to minimize the negative consequences of false publications;

- indicate who is withdrawing the article;

- to indicate the reasons for the recall (to distinguish conscious illegal actions from conscientious errors);

The editorial board of the journal "Science and Life of Kazakhstan" responsibly, objectively and carefully considers all reasonable appeals regarding violations found in published issues.

PUBLICATION OF CORRECTIONS, APOLOGIES, DENIALS

The editors of the journal are responsible for all published materials and undertake to ensure their high quality and reliability.

 Reasons for making corrections to the published article:

 - detected errors make the work invalid, but a small part of the publication is unreliable;

 - contains errors in the list of authors;

- a small part of the article turns out to be plagiarism;

- it was found that the article was published in another journal.

Corrections are posted in the "Announcements" section as an editor's comment. The comment to the article contains the original phrase from the article and a comment to it is placed. The online version of the material is corrected with the date of correction and a link to the printed source of the typographical error.

When falsified material is found in published articles, an explanation is given in the appropriate editorial comment why the article is refuted or an apology is made with a link to the article.

The editors of the journal are always ready to publish corrections, explanations, apologies and rebuttals regarding the material published in the issues of the journal, if necessary.

The journal does not leave unanswered claims regarding reviewed manuscripts.

If a conflict situation is identified, the editors will take all measures to restore the violated rights.
